The SCPCUG Learning Center is a place for club members to come and learn in a friendly informal environment. Members can learn about computing, Windows XP/Vista/7, surfing the Internet, etc. Subject matter usually is derived from questions brought by those attending. The level of material discussed varies from the very basic to the quite advanced. Learning Center Meetings are held on a demand basis each Saturday afternoon either at the Sunflower House in the Merritt Square Mall from 12-4 PM or at the Merritt Towers Condos Clubhouse from 1-5 PM. Merritt Towers is located at 200 South Sikes Creek Parkway, just east of Merritt Square Mall in Merritt Island. The Merritt Towers Clubhouse is on the south side of Merritt Towers Building A. Sunflower House is the preferred location as it provides a Broadband Internet connection whereas only Dial-up Internet access is available at Merritt Towers. At both locations a projector is used to allow everyone to see the subject matter being displayed on the computer. Effective August 2009 and until further
notice, the Resource Center will operate on a demand basis.
An email is sent to the list of regular attendees on Friday requesting
confirmation of intention to attend or not. If there are no confirmed
attendees, the session will be cancelled and an email sent to
advise of this. On the First Saturday of each month those that normally attend the Resource Center Meetings are encouraged to also take part in First Saturday SIG day activities at the Merritt Island Library. First Saturday SIG activities take place 9:30 AM -12:00 noon in the Merritt Island Library Conference Room. Learning Center Meetings are based on the principle that we know more collectively than we know individually. This is the true example of Users Helping Users. At least one hour of each meeting is intended for very basic material. No question is too simple to ask. If you want to learn about your computer, this is the place!
